The Wall of China reminds one of a fabulous past while cities like Beijing tells one about the modern ways China is graduating into.

China is replete with history. Xian takes one back to the 11th century BC when the city was inhabited by kings and poets and artisans. It is one of the birth places of Chinese culture. The Terracotta Warriors is one of the major tourist spots. Also to see are the City Walls, the Tomb of Emperor Jingdi and the Muslim Quarter.

There are also museums and pagodas outside the city. In North, China has its own Switzerland known as Qingdao. This town has both the hills and the sea at its disposal. Qingdao also hosted the sailing competitions of the Olympics 2008. Beijing, the capital city of China is amongst the six ancient cities of China.

The city is about 50,000 years old and has been ruled by many kings, foreign powers and dynasties. The city has Tian’anmen Sqaure – the largest central square in the world and the largest imperial palace in the world.

It is also home to the largest sacrificial complex called “temple of heaven” in the world. Another important city in China is Shanghai. Also known as ‘Oriental Pearl’, Shanghai is the modern city of China.

It has some of the most famous buildings around the world. Top companies around the world have opened up their offices there. Buildings like Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jinmao Tower and Shanghai Global Financial Centre attract a lot of attention.

But along with all these modern facilities, Shanghai still has an air of oriental culture. Tourists can also visit around Shanghai where they can see the Yunuan Garden, the Bund, the Huangpu river and the Xin Tian Di.
