I live on Gran Canaria and have for 10 years, it is a great place and not just for the beaches. The way of life is so relaxed, and I know that tourists only see a bit of it but I think the whole atmosphere helps both local and visitors to enjoy themselves.

At the same time it *is* part of Spain as an anglo-saxon I have to relax my standards when it comes to timeliness of things so as not to be frustrated all the time!
