THE MINI GUIDE TO: MOVIE LOCATIONS

You don’t need to go to Hollywood to visit the world’s most famous movie locations. HAYLEY NOLAN shows you how you can step into the silver screen and become the star of your favourite film.

Watching Meryl Streep sing and dance her way through the streets of Greece in hit movie Mamma Mia, it was hard not to fall in love with the stunning scenery and sparkling sea! And now, locals have cottoned on to the fact that we all want to recreate those famous movie moments, and so have set up  Mamma Mia Holidays we can all experience. So pack your Abba CD and shimmy on down to Kastani Bay on Skopelos, where some of the scenes were filmed, or check out Meryl’s famous Villa Donna above Glysteri Beach!

If you really want to impress you little Muggles – or grown up Muggles – then where better to take them to than the real life Hogwarts! Alnwick Castle in England is actually the setting for many movies and TV shows but it is Harry Potter that has made it as famous as it is today! You can walk the grounds, take part in activities, even book your wedding here!  One things for sure, the impressive grounds and gardens will keep you spellbound for hours! Great family fun!

The Hangover was 2009′s runaway comedy success - so much so that there is a sequel in the works! Yes, Vegas has been the subject and setting of many movies in the past, making virtually every corner of the city a walk-on movie set, but it’s The Hangover that  everyone is talking about lately. So if you want to walk in Bradley Cooper’s drunken footsteps then book yourself in at a replica suite to the one they filmed in at Caesars Palace! There are in fact 12 identical suites to the one featured in the film – so more chance of getting in! From there you can take your pick from which movie moments you’d like to re create!

It was Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant who put the hip London town of Notting Hill on the map in the movie of the same name! Famous already to locals for its vibrant Notting Hill Carnival and food market, visitors from around the world can come and experience the English charm that seduced Hollywood’s leading lady in the now iconic movie. However you won’t be able to visit The Travel Book Company in which the central characters meet, as it is now a shoe shop – but you can visit the book store on which it was based, on Blenheim Crescent!
