Despite its modern outlook complete with freeways and high rises, Seoul - South Korea’s capital, retains an old world charm about it. So, you can get a glimpse of its history by visiting the old temples, palaces of the yesteryears, pagodas and gardens. With such an eclectic blend of the contemporary and the traditional, it’s little wonder that Seoul is often considered to be the soul of Asia.

Time to Visit

Seoul Though you can visit Seoul throughout the year, you would do well to plan your trip during autumn and spring, as the chilled winters or the sultry summer months can often become uncomfortable.

Most of the tourists prefer visiting Seoul either during spring when several feasts and festivities are organized, or between the months of September and November when the climate remains pretty pleasant.

What to see in Seoul

Seoul is home to a diverse mix of interesting spots – ranging from splendid architectures, monuments, temples, and museums to spectacular picturesque scenery. To begin with, you can take a tour of the five palaces, which speak about the past of Seoul when it was Korea’s royal headquarter.

The palaces, which have now been conferred the status of heritage sites, will take you to a bygone era that’s replete with rich history, culture and tradition. Another must-see destination is Joseon Dynasty’s Gyeongbok Palace. You may also pay a visit to the Joseon Museum, Changdeokgung, Gyeonghuigung, Deoksugung, and Changgyeonggung Palaces and the Folk Museum of Korea. Thanks to its dazzling glass structure and outstanding height, the 63 Building is also worth a watch.

If you want to go to a religious place, try visiting the Guksadang shrine and the Inwang Temple situated at Mount Inwang. Nature lovers can take a stroll in the many parks of this place, some of which are the Namsan Park, Boramae Park, and Olympic Park. Those having high energy levels may enjoy some beach sports at Haeundae and Mallipo.

In brief, Seoul is nothing short of a treasure trove that has something or the other to offer for everyone.
