San Diego beckons

The city of San Diego, situated along the west coast of the United States, is the second largest city of California after Los Angeles. It continues to portray the ‘laid-back’ and casual side of California, despite being an important financial centre. Though conservative, the city people are friendly and warm.

San Diego boasts of a number of attractions. Topping the charts is the San Diego Zoo, famous for its initiatives taken in the research and protection of wildlife. The zoo has almost 7000 types of tropical and sub-tropical plants and flowers. The tourists to this place are assured a great time, where they get to observe the animals in their natural habitat. For the ones in a rush, there is also the option of an informative bus tour round the zoo.

Another iconic landmark in San Diego is The Hotel Del Coronado. The past has seen it being featured in several films including classics like Some like It Hot and The Stunt Man. The hotel, which is currently being restored, is always kept in immaculate condition. Blessed with its Victorian architecture, it is indeed a sight to behold.

San Diego has a lot to offer to beach lovers too. Mission Beach provides surf, sand and sun for everyone. It is also home to the famous ‘Seaworld’ Theme Park. The Oceanfront walk is mostly occupied by skateboarders and the like. It also consists of a number of restaurants. The seafood eateries, in particular, serve delicious items.

For those interested in taking a walk down the memory lane, the Museum Of Man, the Natural History Museum and the Maritime Museum are the ideal places that can keep the visitors busy for quite some time. The Museum Of Man, in particular, boasts of several ancient Egyptian antiquities worth a watch for sure!

The Maritime Museum that preserves one of the largest collections of historic sea vessels in the U.S.A is another must-watch for tourists to San Diego.

In brief, San Diego caters to people with variegated interests and is nothing less of a traveler’s delight.
