Mysteries of Pyramids

Many great scholars and Egyptologists have been studying these colossal structures that people inhabiting these antique lands had created a few millennia ago. The reasons for their undertaking such amazing activities are still shrouded in mystery. Controversies and theories abound concerning these wonders of incredible human skills and imagination.
Some of the scholars say the pyramids are nothing but burial monuments of mighty Pharaohs. The great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids and is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that survives substantially intact. Its construction was completed around 2560 BC and it remained the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3000 years.
The storybooks tell us that pyramids were built from whole monolithic stones, cut out from rocks, transported from quarries located at considerable distances. Then these were somehow lifted and piled on each other with incredible precision.
Some mysterious, but highly efficient machines lifted 2-3 tons blocks of stones higher and higher and positioned them neatly. The assumption is very ingenious, but utterly unbelievable. Some people believe that the pyramids were built from primitive low quality concrete by grinding lime into fine powder and drying them in scorching Egyptian sun. While learned Egyptologists try to find out what the truth is, let us explore tourist attractions surrounding these robust and mystical pyramids.
Discover the antique land of Pharaohs and Great Pyramids they built from the banks of the world’s second longest river, the Nile. Situated on its banks is the Egyptian capital which embodies over 5000 years of history, with the Great Pyramids rising on the Giza Plateau, hardly 18 kilometers from the city. Cairo is a sprawling historic city where ancient traditions constantly struggle to co-exist against the onslaught of modern life. It is a vigorous mix of medieval quaint buildings and skyscrapers, charming old-world bazaars and modern shopping malls, museums displaying ancient relics and stunning new bridges.
Cairo offers a wide range of leisure and fun activities. Once the sun goes down, the city and other holiday resorts wake up to usher in tourists to their bars and night-clubs. Egyptian cooking is a fabulous combination of different distinct cuisines of Cairo’s Islamic, Christian Coptic and Jewish communities.
