Brú na Bóinne

Said to be predating even the Egyptian Pyramids, this is one of the most important prehistoric archeological discoveries in Europe. Located on the banks of the Boyne, Bru na Boinne contains chamber tombs, standing stones and henges dating back to the Neolithic age.

If you are a history buff, this prehistoric marvel is a ‘must visit’ not only for its historical importance, but also for some of the most engrossing landscapes, this countryside affords.

The Giants Causeway

One of Ireland’s strangest and most beautiful natural wonders, the Giant’s Causeway is formed by around 40, 000 basalt columns caused by a volcanic eruption.

The tops of the columns look like stepping stones mostly hexagonal in shape. Trek your way through the Giant’s Causeway, and you will end up feeling as tiny as Jack did, when he climbed up the beanstalk into the Giant land!

Blarney Castle

Suffering from stage fright and wish for the ‘gift of the gab’? Visit the Blarney Castle, a medieval castle at Blarney, Ireland. At the top of the castle you will find the Stone of Eloquence or as it is popularly called, the Blarney stone.

To earn your ‘gift of the gab’ you will have to hang upside down and kiss the stone and soon you will be chattering nineteen to the dozen without any inhibitions.

Skellig Michael

This historical site served as a centre for Irish-Christian monks almost 600 years ago. The island, Great Skellig has a rugged terrain and was home to an Irish-Celtic monastery situated on the summit reaching upto 230 meters.

A UNESCO World heritage site since 1996, this monastery has been difficult to reach but continues to be popular. Discover the ascetic conditions the monks lived through and experience for  yourself, a feeling of oneness both with God and nature as you scale you way to the top of this site.
