Grand Bahamas is a small group of islands in the Caribbean geographically belonging to a larger Bahamas archipelago that consist thousands of islands, most of which are uninhabited. Great Bahamas is hardly 50 miles from the Florida coast. Travelers can hire a car from the island’s Freeport airport and drive down 30 miles through long stretches of white sand to reach a cluster of superb resorts for spending a wonderful holiday. Does it sound too easy a task to be in the midst of a veritable paradise on earth?
Paradise on earth
Grand Bahamas is indeed a little paradise and attracts travelers not only from Florida but also from various parts of the world. It also played host to some American Presidents – not necessarily on their State visits – but on holiday after their retirement from power.
Attractions galore
Grand Bahamas has many attractions. Being islands, there are varieties of water sports of sports like boating, fishing and snorkeling, besides of course swimming and diving. And when you don’t want to get your toes wet in the magnificent waters of the Caribbean, head off for a game of golf or tennis, or ride a horse along the beach. And you mustn’t miss the opportunities for exciting shopping and sightseeing expeditions.
Nightlife
Nightlife here is also equally exciting. Watch the magnificent sunset from wherever you are and then head towards Freeport for enjoying the evening. Grand Bahamas’ casinos, bars and nightclubs will keep you entertained all through the night.
The locals love music. Clubs and discos are lively with jazz. Fire-eaters and live bands provide most enjoyable entertainment in the open-air at the Count Basie Square.
Shopping
Although there are duty-free shops, better options are to hunt for bargain shopping. The sprawling and picturesque waterfront Port Lucaya complex is the most interesting market complex where you get excellent local products, handicrafts and souvenirs.
Eating out
Port Lucaya complex also has several exotic restaurants and interesting bars. Throughout Grand Bahamas you will find excellent Bahamian cuisine prepared mainly with fresh native fish. While enjoying your meals at a local restaurant, you will also get the chance of meeting some interesting and warm-hearted local people.
Natural beauty
In Grand Bahamas the God hasn’t left many tasks for those who He created in His own image, except appreciating the eternal beauties of nature. The natural beauty of Grand Bahamas is so overwhelming that mortal human beings limited their creative instincts in building tourist resorts, bars and casinos et al for satisfying their hedonistic pleasures.
Grand Bahamas beckons you
There are many hotels and resorts here. The Radisson is a grand resort, conveniently located at twenty minutes drive from the airport. You can also conveniently indulge in shopping at the market nearby. And, what is absolutely fantastic, swim with dolphins in the sea next door.
Come to Grand Bahamas and enjoy a holiday that you will cherish forever!
