Florence – A Renaissance City

The existence of Florence could be traced back to Roman times in the 1st century BC. There is evidence of Julius Caesar’s footprint in the oldest part of the city. It’s close proximity with Rome made it easier for the Roman conqueror to annex Florence as his colony.

Take a drive through the Tuscan countryside and enjoy its panoramic views. Begin your visit with a guided tour of Piazza dei Miracoli and see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. This Romanesque Tower is surrounded by an equally beautiful cathedral. Walk with your guide to Piazza dei Cavalieri where Napoleon founded the Scuola Normale University in 1810.
Shopping
Major designer products are available at bargain prices at many shops offering prestigious labels like Armani, Fendi, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino. The best place is The Mall, a designer outlet located in Leccio, a small town about an hour’s drive from Florence. The road goes through some of the most picturesque areas of Tuscany villages.
