The first possible thought that would come to our minds would be a place that has some kind of water body nearby. And what better place would that be than a beach destination?

Millions of travelers flock to beach destinations the year around for the promise of alluring white beaches and turquoise waters coupled with the prospect of entertainment for the entire family which include water sports, nature trails, adventure sports or just a lazy nap on the beach.

While the more popular beaches have yearlong visitors, there are some beaches that provide the perfect haven for the traveler but are yet to be discovered. Here is a list of some the most famous and exotic beach destinations in the world. Just make the right choice and enjoy your stay in any one of these paradises!

Maldives: - An archipelago that consists of nearly 2000 islands, Maldives has been and is one of the most sought after beach destinations in the world, what with wonderful climate throughout the year, calm turquoise waters, wide stretches of white sandy beaches and spectacular underwater coral gardens.

Almost 110 of the islands are private resorts and compete with each other to provide the best in the class service and facilities to the traveler. There is not a moment to lose as a plethora of activities both inland and outland serve as good means of entertainment apart from lazing at the beach and getting that perfect tan.

Atlantis Paradise (Bahamas): - Located in the Bahamas, this part of the Caribbean Island has derived its name from the pure experience of being in paradise while being there.

Mostly suited for honeymooning couples, the long sandy beaches with palm fronts provide the best atmosphere for a beach walk. The others however need not be disappointed as there are innumerable adventure and water activities that suit all ages.

The tropical climate is an added advantage to this hidden paradise that attracts visitors all year around.

Paradise Beach (Greece): - Another paradise to visit, this time in the Greek Isle of Mykonos, this beach destination has something that no other beach in the world can offer. Countless of secret coves line the beach which provide a thrill for numerous couples who throng the golden beaches bordered by a deep blue sea.

Just lie on the beach, soak up some rays and as the evening grows, get swallowed into the nightlife and wake up to a whole new day right there on the beach!!!

Arambol Beach (Goa): - They say that a crowded beach is no fun unless you move with the crowd. Known for its hippie culture, Goa in India has been one of the most frequented beach destinations in the world.

Though the culture and its people tend to get a few cynical expressions, at the end of the day, the long stretch of sand coupled with a fresh water lake backed by a jungle would put all apprehensions to rest.

One tends to get lost in his/her thoughts as the beach looks endless and provides remote areas for the couples to hang around with no other soul for miles to come.

Sharm el Sheik (Egypt): - Visit this part of Egypt on the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, and your entire trip continues underwater in the Red Sea. With spectacular reefs and shipwrecks beneath the sea, one can enjoy the world class diving facilities and earn a diving certification at the same time in Na’ama Bay which is about a 25 minutes drive from Sharm El Sheik.

Central Na’ama Bay is a shopper’s paradise with numerous shops lining the streets along with hotels that provide cuisines to match every taste. Renowned for the site of the famous Burning Bush, St. Catherine’s Monastery is a must for a day visit while the experienced diver can dive among sharks and sting rays in the waters of Shark Bay.

Aroa, Aitutaki, One Foot Island, Cook Islands (South Pacific): - A hidden paradise, not known to many travelers, this beach destination can be easily called as one of the best beaches in the South Pacific.

Offering a plethora of activities to its visitors, both inland and on water (scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling etc.), the only hindrance that keeps some travelers off this isle is the extremely long time taken to reach it.

Anse Source d’ Argent (Seychelles):- A secluded group of islands in the Indian Ocean, these palm studded delights are a part of the archipelago of Seychelles. Mostly undiscovered, the beaches of these islands are a trek away and those who do so will not return unsatisfied.

Natural landscapes border the beaches with fine pink sand and giant palm trees that provide enough seclusion to drive away the noises of everyday life. Waters are reef protected and hence calm for activities like scuba diving, water sports and fishing. Resorts and spas are available at a stone’s throw which makes up for the silence that one experiences in these beaches.

Heron Island (Australia): - Frequented by travelers who are more on the aquatic side, this beach destination in Australia has all that a water lover would want. Take in the scenic beauty of the marine life while reveling in a range of water activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing and water sports.
