Welcome to Greenwood Forest Park, one of the best places in the world for a fun packed family holiday. Located right beneath Snowdonia in Wales, UK, this adventure park is a one of a kind family park and has something for every member of the family.
The park is an eco tourist attraction and has been designed keeping in mind, the minimal use of carbon footprint. All the rides are eco friendly and there are loads of activities and other forms of entertainment to take part in and enjoy.
Located in Northern Wales, the park is a 75 minutes drive away from the M56 Highway. Visitors to the park can branch off the A55 Coastal Highway and catch the no. 72 bus that starts off from Bangor and stops by the Greenwood Forest Park several times a day with the exception of bank holidays.
Upon arrival, the park requires an entrance fee which is a onetime non refundable charge. However, all the other major attractions of the park are free. The park also arranges regular guided school tours within the park which need to be pre booked. This offer is limited to accredited schools and organizations.
Apart from the attractions, the other general amenities available at the Green Wood Forest Park include free car parking, pre booked coaches, baby care facilities, rest rooms, wheel chair accessibility in the common areas, an onsite gift shop and several cafes and snack bars that are spread throughout the park.
Attractions: Now comes the main part of the park, it’s so called eco friendly attractions. Rightly called, the rides at Greenwood Forest Park have been built to operate under human energy. And one of the park’s many highlights happens to be the Green Dragon Roller Coaster which is powered by its riders.
The attraction involves 20 riders who walk up to a loading platform and ride down a 250 meter long track. The weight of the riders is enough to pull the train all the way across the track and then up another hill to a second loading station. Here, a brief walk of a few steps will enable the guests to ride down another hill on another set of cars. The ride does not allow kids under 3’ 2” and all other kids need to be accompanied by an adult.
There are several other similar rides and attractions for the entire family. Some of them include Moon Karts at Lunar Park, which is a biking circuit for two seater quad bikes and trikes; the Crocodile Maze where you need to make your way through a densely vegetated maze and avoid being pounced on by fierce crocodiles (artificial of course!); and the Great Green Run which is a 70 meter Sledge Run down a steep hill.
The Jungle Boat Adventure enables guests to move across a water channel with the help of suspended ropes. The Forest Theater is an open air amphitheater with a capacity to seat 200 guests. Hosting several performances and shows during the holidays, the theater is the apt place to take a quick break from the rides and still stay entertained.
Guests can also enjoy games of archery the traditional Welsh Style, by shooting three arrows at a time. Those who love to walk will definitely find solace in the Bare Foot Trail which is a 300 meter long nature trail that courses through the picturesque forest.
Kids are not left out alone in the Greenwood Forest Park and can enjoy several attractions built just for them. The Giant Jumper is huge bouncing pillow that covers an area of 1500 square feet and is considered as one of the biggest attractions of its kind in the whole of Wales.
Let your kids have a gala time at the Tree Top Towers which includes four tall wooden towers connected together by suspended walkways and tube slides. Suitable for kids aged 7 and above, the towers enable kids to roam freely around the closed area while their parents watch them from the sand pit and picnic tables below.
The smaller ones have their own version of the towers at the Tunnel Warren which is a replica of the original Tree Top Towers, only much smaller in size. Kids can also enjoy driving around in mini tractors, or enjoy some quality time with their parents in the Adventure Playground zones.
The Toddler’s Village is a miniature village which has been built mainly for kids. Toddlers will love exploring the small village which is filled with mini houses, slides and a sand area. The Pet’s Corner allows visitors to catch glimpses of pea cocks, pea hens, rabbits and guinea pigs in addition to petting a few bunnies.
The GreenWood Forest Park also provides attractions that enable everyone in the family to get together and work as a team. The Den Building Zone is a group activity area wherein members in a team are required to build shelters from natural resources like logs, twigs and fallen branches.
Once visitors have finished building a shelter, they can move over to the Snowdonia Viewpoint to enjoy breathtaking views of the entire mountain range. An onsite visual guide enables them to identify every landmark that they can see from the viewpoint.
The park also arranged regular arts and crafts classes and demonstrations for visitors and schools. Some of the activities in these classes include wood carving, rug carving, fruit and vegetable carving, and pottery. In addition to this, the park also hosts birthday parties for kids which need to be pre booked.
Plan a trip to the award winning Greenwood Forest Park with your family today and enjoy a smashing eco friendly holiday. Celebrate your holidays with a purpose!
