Caviar: This trendy dish has always been served in dinners meant for the elite classes. The very presence of caviar in a meal is enough to signify the grandeur of the event and the people attending. Although all types of caviar are expensive, by far the costliest of them is the Almas Caviar from Iran. This white delicacy is prepared from the Beluga Sturgeon fish which takes almost 20years to mature only after which it can be cooked.
The Almas caviar is sold in 24K gold tins in the market and costs somewhere around 2000 dollars for 100 gm. Shocking but true!
If you happen to visit either Australia or Indonesia, try asking for the Macadamia nut. The toughest nut in the world is also the most expensive due to complicated production. You can get a kilo of macadamia nuts for about 30-40 dollars. The nut is also sold in international markets.
Japan has always topped the list in quality production and here, you can have a taste of the most tender and succulent meat in the world. The beef comes from a special breed of cattle called the Wagyu cows which are given the best in food and treatments. It costs nearly 100 dollars per 200 grams of beef.
Mushrooms are always delicious and the white truffle tops the list as the most tasteful as well the costliest of them all. Originating from the Piedmont region of Italy, these white truffles are huge and cost about 2000 dollars per kilogram.
Heard of a food item that is costlier than gold? Well that’s what the Spice Saffron is to you. These are sold at an amazing price of almost 6000 dollars per kilogram. The reason behind the high price is the fact that an entire field of saffron can yield only a little amount of the product (only 2.7 kilograms).
Lets head over to New York where you have the Wall Street Burger Shop. Here is where you will find the king of all burgers, and the costliest of all too. Made out of Kobe Beef from Japan and Parisian Foie Grass along with a topping of Matsutake mushrooms (again from Japan) and mayonnaise (made of white truffles), the burger costs a whopping 175 dollars apiece.
Again in New York, you are bound to find the Le Parker Meridien Restaurant which serves the world’s costliest omelet. The giant sized omelet is made out of 6 eggs and contains a lobster and sevruga caviar in it, and costs 1000 dollars.
Walk into the Nino’s Bellisima in Manhattan, New York and you will be confronted with the most delicious and the most expensive of all pizzas ever to be created on the face of the earth. You need to book the pizza 24 hours prior to your meal owing to complicated production. The finished pizza has a crust that is 12 inches thick and is topped with every imaginable delight. It costs about 125 dollars to taste a single slice of this haven.
Move over to London which is not far behind in its choice of dishes. The Cliveden House hotel in London is home to the biggest and costliest sandwich. Taste it once and you would not want to taste any other normal sandwich in your entire life. The sandwich costs about 197 dollars to make and contains among other fillings, white truffles, Iberico ham, Italian tomatoes and quail eggs.
While in London, you can also get a taste of the famed Samundari Khazana gravy which costs about 2000 dollars a dish. Made out of caviar, sea snails, whole lobster and sprinkled with gold, this dish is sure to be lip smacking good.
India has always been the land of diversified dishes and Hyderabad in India is famed for its spicy meals. A new addition to the list of costliest dishes in the world comes from this state of India. Called the Annarkali Butter Chicken, the dish is made out of Godrej chicken, Evian water, Hunt’s tomato paste in addition to various other branded ingredients. The cooked dish is served in a glass bowl with a faint sprinkling of silver and gold and costs about 6000 Indian Rupees per portion.
Let now move on to Desert. The costliest desert to be ever prepared is perhaps the Serendipity 3, which is prepared in Upper Manhattan. Basically a sundae, the desert contains Amedei Porceleana, which is one of the most expensive chocolates in the world, in addition to delicious Tahitian Vanilla Ice cream and Madagascar vanilla essence. It is topped off with a 23K gold leaf and served for 1000 dollars.
Chocolates make mouths water and the Chocopologie chocolate, dished out by Knipschildt is the costliest of them all. It is handmade and contains Valrhona cocoa powder and French Black Truffles. The price is somewhere around 250 dollars for a single piece and 2600 dollars for a pound.
If you look at beverages, Indonesia tops the list in preparing the best and the costliest coffee. Called the Kopi Luwak, the coffee beans are limited in production and hence fetch a price of over 300 dollars for a pound of beans.
China prepares the world’s costliest tea called the Tieguanyin. This fine green tea costs about 15 dollars per cup and 3000 dollars per kilo.
If you are fond of beers and want to taste the most exquisite off them, head to London where you will find the Bierdrome Bar. The bar prepares the world’s most expensive beer called the Belgian Vielle Bon Secours, a pint of which costs around 78 dollars.
