Situated in Byron Bay, the retreat specializes in windsurfing in addition to offering yoga and other exercises which completely rejuvenates the body and soul.

Location: The Bay is situated to the North of New South Wales and is approximately 800 km from Sydney and 170 km from Brisbane. Guests can catch flight that land at either The Ballina Byron Gateway airport which is about a 30 minute drive away or the Gold Coast Airport which is a 60 minute drive away.
Cabs, taxis, and coaches are available that provide transportation for the rest of the journey in addition to a train station nearby from which guests can catch regular trains to Byron Bay.
Accommodation: The resort covers an area of 27 acres and is surrounded by greenery. Cabins are allocated to guests which come complete with a living room, a lounge area, a separate bedroom, dining area, a kitchenette (fully equipped) and an outdoor verandah with a balcony.
The cabins are spacious and furnished tastefully. The general amenities would include air conditioning, king and queen sized beds, refrigerators, barbeque grills, dishwashers, and microwaves, en suite bathrooms with a spa bath, Duvets, Clothes Drier and satellite televisions with stereo CD players.
Cuisine: At Samudra, you will be encouraged to follow a lifestyle that is uncivilized and natural. Meals consist of dishes prepared with the freshest of ingredients which include organic produce, vegetables and fruits in addition to other whole delicacies.
General Amenities: In addition to the accommodation and cuisine, Samudra retreat has a whole lot of other facilities that enable guests to enjoy their stay to the maximum. For those who prefer to drive on their own, the resort has an underground parking area in addition to a car park. There is a swimming pool within the resort grounds in addition to a spa and a general area for picnic purposes.
Barbeque grills are scattered across the resort and guests can avail them for outdoor picnics. A Laundromat service is available in the common area for guests. All the public areas are non smoking with the best interests of keeping the natural environment intact.
Yoga and Windsurfing Training: The retreat does not require you to be an expert in the fields of yoga or windsurfing. Novices and even beginners who have had no experience can join the classes. Trainings are usually conducted in either Byron Bay or the neighboring Dunsborough. Classes are fun and individual attention is given to each person based on their prior knowledge and experience.
Guests will be asked to bring subtle clothing like T-shirts, shorts, sunscreens, sun hats and glasses in addition to bathing suits and towels. Apart from these, the retreat provides all the equipment necessary for windsurfing including wetsuits and surf boards. Children are also allowed as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Sessions in yoga and windsurfing are taken by qualified professionals and each group houses a maximum of 16 members. Some of the activities included in training will include Learning to Surf, Various types of Yoga, Swimming, Meditation, practice of the Ashtanga form of yoga, and bush walking. These training sessions come as either one week or two week packages and it is left up to the guests to choose the appropriate one.
Recreational Activities: Apart from training and yoga sessions, guests can also take part in a horde of other activities in and around the area. The retreat has a spa which offers therapeutic and ayurvedic massages. The beach is quite nearby for a relaxing swim as well as a bowling club, theatre, restaurants, pubs, shops, lush gardens, markets, galleries and museums.
The town surrounding Byron Bay is quite small but pleasant. There are numerous places of interest to visit which include a very old and dense rain forest teeming with wildlife, the sacred lake where the Aboriginals are said to have originated and the Arakwal National Park.
The Byron week end markets are also a wonderful sight to behold and guests can mingle with the local crowd while enjoying a spree of shopping. There are also numerous yoga studios run by professionals around town and guests can walk into any of them for a de stressing experience.
Some of the other activities you can indulge in are sailboarding, horse riding on the beach, whale watching and kayaking with dolphins.
