RobbenIslandTalking of South Africa, the first image that conjures up in the mind is that of a mighty lion and then leopards, then several others such as giraffes, elephants, crocodiles and some other less vile wild animals. But South Africa is more than just sundry wildlife. Its funny, exciting and overall an amazing country.

The reasons to visit South Africa are endless. It’s the centre of the world when it comes to world sports competitions. It will host the FIFA World Cup 2010, which is clearly due to the world class facilities it owns. The cities too are a delight.

Cape Town, also known as the Mother City is the most famous city of SA. It is incomplete without the table mountain which is rated amongst the most beautiful spot in the world. From there one can enjoy gorgeous view of South Africa. Then there is Robben Island.

The island situated at the waterfront of Cape Town is now a World Heritage Site. It is the island where Nelson Mandela and his colleagues were kept imprisoned during the Apartheid Era.

The stories of atrocities that the inmates went through can be felt at the stone walls of the jail. The Garden Route along the Tsitsikamma Forest is where one can come close to South African culture.

The series of small towns, wineries, farms and sea villages which stretch upto 600-kilometers is the heart of South Africa where one can sink into the original South African life.

The beach life too is rich with diversity. South Africa has a 3000 km of coastline that stretches from KwaZulu-Natal to the Wild Coast and from the Eastern Cape to the West Coast. The golden beaches offer a plenty of activity around the year. The bio diversity of the marine life too is rich with flora and fauna.
