Small and beautiful

The history of this little known and little island in the Caribbean had began some 4000 years ago when people from South America came here and established their humble settlements. They lived off the sea and whatever they could grow in their land. Then came the European colonizers and the islanders’ lifestyle changed. What they couldn’t change was the pristine beauty of the island and the sea around it. These are still as wonderful as they always were.

Little paradise

The tranquility of this little paradise hasn’t been adversely affected a bit by its exosure to overseas travelers. They have added color to the island and brought prosperity to its hospitable people.

Anguilla’s miles of sandy beaches are normally uncrowded, still unspoiled and often marked by beautiful rocks and unique tropical nameless plants. The color of sea water ranges from aquamarine to turquoise blue. The overall effect is absolutely stunning – one of the best in the world.

The blue infinity

The Caribbean sun keeps the sea waters comfortably warm practically throught the year. You will be tempted to go for a swim whenever you are near the beach. Have absolutely no fear to go a bit further into the sea and experience the joy of snorkeling. What little you explore there and the little underwater life you see will thrill you.

Beach activities

Swimming and other beach activities will give you huge appetite. Don’t abandon the beachside. Head for one of the bistros and bars overlooking the silvery sand and blue sea.

This little island has 30 breathtaking beaches. You will need a long holiday to explore them all. Keep the calm and protected beach in the Island Harbor on top of your list. While sipping bubbly or a local brew in one of the adjoining bars, enjoy the view of boats in different colors bubbling in the gentle waves of the sea. The Hibernia restaurant and Arawak Inn in the vicinity are famous for the delicious seafood they serve.

Cuisine capital

Connoisseurs rate Anguillan cuisine as the best in the Caribbean. Discerning travelers will love to dine at candlelit tables in local restaurants, many of which provide live music. There is a wide range of eateries ranging from elegant varieties to chic bistros on the beachfront. It is also a great fun to eat at roadside grills. The island is indeed a gastronomers’ paradise.
